Direct Claims Status

ABE-Assess have been awarded Direct Claims Status (DCS) for the following National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs):

  • Level 3 and 4 NVQ in Spatial Data Management
  • Level 3 and 4 NVQ in Construction Contracting Operations
  • Level 3 and 4 NVQ in Built Environment Development and Control
  • Level 4 NVQ in Quantity Surveying Practice
  • Level 3 and 4 NVQ in Site Inspection
  • Level 3 NVQ in Construction Site Supervision
  • Level 4 NVQ in Construction Site Management

This means candidates who have completed their portfolio to the satisfaction of the Assessment Centre (ABE-Assess) can gain their certificate without waiting for an External Verification visit to be undertaken. This minimises the wait between completion of the portfolio and receiving the certificate. This award is a result of the External Verifier's recognition of the high standards ABE-Assess operate at and confidence in its assessment process.

ABE-Assess were the first Assessment Centre to receive DCS for the Diploma in Home Inspection (DipHI).

ABE-Assess also has DCS for the Diploma in Domestic Energy Assessment (DipDEA).

Excerpt from the ABBE 'Centre Operations Guide' outlining DCS:

DCS is the term used to denote that an ABBE approved Assessment Centre is able to claim candidate certification during the time between their External Verifier visits for an identified qualification.

ABBE awards DCS to Assessment Centres who have:

  • consistently met all the centre approval criteria
  • delivered high quality assessment for the individual qualification(s) over a period of approximately twelve months
  • demonstrated rigorous quality assurance and quality control arrangements consistently over a period of time

ABBE External Verifiers will monitor centre practice at each External Verification visit and advise centres of their suitability for Direct Claims Status at that time.
