About the Introduction to Home Condition Reports Day

The introduction day provides information on how to build your portfolio, collect relevant evidence and access your online portfolio. Information will be given on the assessment process, the National Occupational Standards (NOS) and how these are achieved, examination content and an overview of Home Condition Reports (HCRs).

Ideal For

Individuals with relevant experience and qualifications in the subject area, spanning a minimum of three years.

Course Aims

To provide an introduction to the Diploma in Home Inspection requirements, portfolio development and an introduction to the software systems available.

Programme Outline

  • Introduction and developments to date
  • Review of the National Occupational Standards (NOS)
  • Assessment process – what you are required to achieve and how best to achieve it
  • Review of the requirements for the portfolio, the methods of providing evidence and its role in showing achievement of the National Occupational Standards (NOS) and appropriate cross-referencing
  • Condition rating – identifying and rating of defects
  • Providing consistency in rating defects and understanding the meaning of the rating categories
  • Accessing your online portfolio
  • Completing a Home Condition Report (HCR) – a walked through example
  • Energy reports overview – what an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) looks like, what it tells you and how it has come about
  • Examination – an overview of the examination requirements and format
  • A review of the assessment process and development of activities relevant to the online test and the need for a Personal Development
  • Plan to ensure satisfactory expertise and knowledge required for the test.

Fees

The introduction day will be free of charge to individuals registered on the ABE-Assess route to the ABBE Home Inspection Diploma (DipHI). Individuals registering for the above programme, prior to registering for the ABE-Assess route, will have the introduction day fee deducted from the Diploma fee.
