The DipNDEA3 and DipDEC3 has been created to develop and qualify individuals to produce Display Energy Certificates (DECs) for existing non-domestic buildings, and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for non-domestic buildings with typical characteristics for example simple heating systems, natural ventilation and small comfort cooling such as small to medium offices, high street shops, hotels etc.
Candidates are required to attend Training Days including an Introductory Day which is followed by the training sessions listed below:
To provide training to enable individuals to prepare and qualify to produce Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for simple commercial buildings incorporating up to 100kW heating, up to 12kW local cooling, natural ventilation, passive stack, typical lighting and domestic construction.
To provide training to enable individuals to prepare for and qualify to produce Display Energy Certificates (DECs) and provide Advisory Reports (ARs) for public buildings with a total useful floor area of over 1000m2.
Professionals with a minimum of three years experience of commercial construction and the inspection of existing commercial buildings. Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs) who can demonstrate commercial knowledge and experience and who are members of an appropriate Professional Body.
Portfolio of 3 Reports for the DipNDEA3
In order to achieve the DipNDEA3 candidates are required to meet the requirements of the National Occupational Standards (NOS) by producing a portfolio which contains a minimum of three Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for buildings they have inspected which must be supported by photographs, site notes, plans and any other additional supporting information for the types and range of buildings.

In order to achieve the DipDEC3 candidates are required to meet the requirements of the National Occupational Standards (NOS) by producing a portfolio which contains a minimum of three Display Energy Certificates (DECs) and accompanying Advisory Reports (ARs) which must be supported by photographs, site notes, plans and any other additional supporting information for the types and range of buildings.
Candidates will be required to sit and pass and external examination.
