About the Diploma's in Energy Assessment
The following Diploma's in Energy Assessment are on offer from the Association of Building Engineers (ABE) through it's Assessment Centre ABE-Assess, as a direct result of the introduction of the European Energy Performance Buildings Directive (EPBD) which has been created to raise awareness and reduce carbon emisions for all homes and buildings in the EU.
The EPBD sets out the standards for various types of energy certificates, Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and Display Energy Certificates (DECs). It contains information on methods of energy assessment, how often assessments and certificates must be issued and what each certificate must contain.

Level 3 Diploma's
Level 3 Diploma in Domestic Energy Assessment (DipDEA3)
- Energy assessment of existing residential buildings based on Reduced data Standard Assessment Procedure Software (RdSAP)
Level 3 Diploma in Display Energy Certificates (DipDEC3)
- Energy assessment of public buildings based on Operational Rating Software (OR)
Level 3 Diploma in Non-Domestic Energy Assessment (DipNDEA3)
- Energy assessment of simple buildings with similar characteristics based on Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM)
Level 4 Diploma's
Level 4 Top-up Diploma in Non-Domestic Energy Assessment (DipNDEA4)
- Candidates will need to have achieved the Level 3 Diploma in Non-Domestic Energy Assessment (DipNDEA3) prior to undertaking this route
- Energy assessment of more complex existing and new commercial buildings based on Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM)
Level 4 Diploma in Non-Domestic Energy Assessment (DipNDEA4)
- Energy assessment of existing and new commercial buildings based on Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM)
Cost

The Member price is available to full Corporate Members and Fellows of the ABE.
Time Frame
Candidates can expect to complete their Diploma within 3 to 6 months, dependant upon the amount of time the candidate has to dedicate to the completion of their portfolio.

- Energy assessment of new build residential buildings based on Standard Assessment Procedure Software (SAP)
