The Association of Building Engineers (ABE) has entered into a Protocol with the Scottish Building Standards Agency (SBSA) in relation to the production of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) in Scotland.
Graduates, Associates, Members and Fellows of the ABE have the opportunity to be certified under this Protocol to produce EPCs for existing buildings, residential and commercial, both sale and rent.
Members wishing to offer services in this area are required to complete the
Application Form and submit with the following information:
Before application please ensure you have also read and understood the
Energy Assessor Codes of Professional Conduct which have been provided specifically for your role as an Energy Assessor.
These are to be adhered to in conjunction with the
ABE Codes of Conduct provided as part of your membership of the ABE.
This protocol does not currently cover members under Regulation 6 of the Scottish Building Standards for the New Build sector. The ABE will be reviewing this area to create further opportunities for members in the near future.

The fees are as follows:
Initial application fee (fee includes first years certification) |

Those who are not currently members of the ABE will be required to obtain membership prior to applying for certification. For details on membership opportunities and routes available please visit the

Member grade must be Graduate, Associate, Member or Fellow.
